COFFEE lovers have been supporting events across Bromsgrove, raising money for a cancer charity.

Macmillan Cancer Support's world's biggest coffee morning is held nationally to raise money for the charity.

The charity helps people living with cancer and their families.

Jellybabies Nursery teamed up with Longbridge Methodist Church to hold a coffee morning, which was supported by staff, parents, carers and the nursery children.

An impressive £148 was raised.

A coffee morning was also held at Fairfield Football Club last Friday, September 26.

The event was organised in memory of 44-year-old Alan Morris, who lost a 14-month battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in March.

His parents Clive and Sheila wanted to give something back to the nurses who supported him, which led to the event being organised.

The money collected has now been added up, and £400 was raised.

At the new Oakalls Grange development local residents gathered in the marketing suite for a coffee morning, which included a selection of cakes.

Visitors were joined by Newland Homes staff and Councillor Caroline Spencer.

“It was a lovely opportunity for members of the Oakalls community to gather socially and raise money for such an important cause,” Cllr Spencer said.

Overall £70 was raised at the event.

Also on the Oakalls estate Julie Whyte, a Macmillan Cancer Support volunteer, held a very successful event for the cancer charity at her home.
