SMOKERS in Halesowen are being urged to quiz the demon weed this month as part of the Stoptober campaign.

The Dudley Stop Smoking Service is supporting this year’s Stoptober and have been offering free carbon monoxide tests, together with help and advice on quitting for good.

Councillor Rachel Harris, cabinet member for health, said: “The 2013 campaign saw 250,000 people across the country take part with 65 per cent of those successfully quitting for 28 days.

"In Dudley borough nearly 400 people signed up to take part in Stoptober 2013 and the Dudley Stop Smoking Service is hoping even more will get involved this year and, with their help and support, will be able to quit for good.”

The Dudley Stop Smoking Service offers a combination of advice, behavioural support and access on prescription to treatments such as Champix or nicotine patches or gum.

The service has specialist advisors based throughout the borough offering one-to-one support in local pharmacies and GP surgeries and group support at four dedicated stop smoking groups.

The 28-day challenge starts on Tuesday October 1. For more information contact the Dudley Stop Smoking Service on 0800 0850 652, text CAN to 80800 or visit www.dudleystopsmoking.co.uk.
