A SPORTS club in Redditch is set to train three new triathlon instructors with money from Worcestershire County Council's Choose how you move programme.

The cash will be donated to Triathlon Redditch, helping to bring the total of qualified instructors up to five by the new year.

Martin Lewis of Redditch Council received the cheque on behalf of colleagues for the effort put in by them during the Summer Cycle Challenge.

The council won the organisation prize for having the highest miles per participant. Mr Lewis who regularly rides from Worcester to Redditch and back was the main cyclist who clocked the most miles.

Hayley Gwilliam, health intervention officer at Redditch Council and a founding member of Triathlon Redditch, said: "The club is going from strength to strength as triathlon becomes the most popular sporting activity nationally.

"The money will be used to train three members as triathlon instructors who can help develop the club membership and new rides even further."

Triathlon Redditch is open to anyone who wants to train for triathlon at entry level. Training is on Sundays, 3pm at Abbey Stadium for 'swim, spin, run' and bikes are available to borrow.
