A REDDITCH charity which supports informal and unpaid carers has been given a cash boost of £3,000 to continue its vital work.

Carers Careline, which has been helping carers over the age of 18 for the past 26 years, has been awarded the top prize of the Lloyds Community Fund – which invited local residents to vote for their chosen charity from four local good causes.

The fund was set up to help local people have a positive impact at the heart of their community by giving grants to good causes in a number of communities.

Wendy Pickford, chief officer at Carers Careline, said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive this funding – it will allow us to continue to provide this valuable support to Redditch residents.

"Thank you to everyone who supported us."

The charity, a completely self-funding organisation supported by The Big Lottery Fund, Redditch Borough Council and other trusts, helps carers by offering information and advice, signposting, training, social groups, events and activities, counselling and bereavement support.

The charity also runs ‘drop in’ sessions from Monday to Thursday from 10am to 12noon at the office based in the Ecumenical Centre.
