A TALENTED tot’s artwork won the seal of approval from Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James Morris when he chose the design for his Christmas card.

Five-year-old Mia Simpson, of Reddal Hill Primary School, Old Hill, beat off entries from schools across the constituency in the annual competition.

Mia’s design, which features a sparkly red-nosed Rudolph with antlers formed from hand-prints, will now appear on the front of the MP’s official card, which he is sending out to community groups and schools as well as to parliamentary colleagues.

Six runners-up – Hollie Pierpoint, of Hurst Green Primary, Cody Smith, of Manor Way Primary, Jordon Worton, of Springfield Primary, Eshaal Mokhmoud, of Reddal Hill, and Thea Beaston and Conner Bishop, who are both pupils at Halesbury School – will feature on the back of the card.

Mr Morris visited the schools to present the winner and each of the runners-up with their prizes, as well as certificates for all those who took part.

All the entries are now on display in Halesowen’s Cornbow Shopping Centre.

Mr Morris said: “This is the third year that I have asked local primary schools to design my Christmas card and I am always impressed with the quality and variety of entries.”

The winners received prizes donated by Dudley Zoo, the Black Country Living Museum, Cadbury World and Birmingham’s Thinktank science museum,
