OLDBURY has been named the fourth luckiest town in the country according to the National Bingo Game Association, with 16 Mecca Bingo players scooping more than half a million pounds between them in 12 months.
In the last year, the 16 winners from Mecca Bingo Oldbury won a total of £539,145.62, putting them fourth in the lucky town table.
Dundee took this year’s top spot, closely followed by Stockton-On-Tees and Bolton. Blackpool and Leicester won fifth and sixth place respectively, also with 16 wins but were beaten by Oldbury based on total amount won.
NBGA chief executive Miles Baron said: “We are delighted to announce this year’s Lucky Towns results, which showcase where £13,264,412 in prize money has been won in the last 12 months. There are some real surprises with last year’s winners moving up and down the rankings.
“For many winners their prizes have been life-changing. Stories from our winners have ranged from buying houses and going on their first family holiday, to starting a new career and retiring. Many donated a proportion of their winnings to worthy causes too.”
The National Bingo Game offers a headline prize that is won on every game played, in addition to a jackpot prize which is won every two-three weeks. The value of the jackpot varies in relation to how recently it has been won and turns an amazing prize into a mind-boggling one, regularly paying out over £250,000
