AN ex-boyfriend who pestered his former girlfriend with text messages and phone calls admitted he had been "stupid".

Jason Bridges sent four text messages and made two phone calls to his ex Kerry Faulkner in Droitwich.

The 23-year-old of Cherry Tree Walk, Redditch, admitted breaching a restraining order on March 14 when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Monday.

The restraining order was imposed on July 24 last year. The order was made 'until further order' which means it stands indefinitely until the court revokes it. It is his second breach of the same order, the first taking place on August 22 last year.

Adrian Jones, prosecuting, said it was the early hours of the morning when Bridges began texting his ex.

Mr Jones said: "She didn't reply to the messages or answer the calls."

In one of his messages, sent at 12.25am, Bridges wrote: "Sorry I was stupid. I love you that's all. Don't tell anyone as I'm not meant to contact you."

In another at 12.55am he wrote: "Sorry. I should have left you alone. Please don't tell anyone. I won't do it again."

In a another message at 8.15am he said: "I know I should not be texting you. Please don't tell anyone. I'm sorry."

He was arrested and interviewed where he made full and frank admission.

Mr Jones said: "He understands he should not have done it and was stupid to try and contact her. He did it not thinking about the consequences. He didn't do it to harass her and didn't threaten her."

Julie Powell, defending, said it was "an unfortunate situation". She added: "He accepts he had a drink and made a couple of phone calls. There's no threatening comments at all. He just wanted to know if she was okay.

"My instructions are that in relation to the first breach in August he was trying to get back with her."

A probation officer said Bridges had attended his appointments and that he had engaged with his offender manager. Ms Powell said Bridges had sporadic employment in a pub.

District judge Nigel Cadbury said: "This is a second breach of a restraining order. I accept it was a number of text messages and phone calls over a short period of time when, stupidly, you were in drink and decided to make contact."

He made him subject to a 12 month community order with 66 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £50.
