PUPILS at a Chaddesley Corbett school have managed to secure themselves scholarships for academic ability, sporting prowess, musical flair, artistic vision and general all-round ability.

Over the past five years, 180 major awards have been made to Winterfold House School pupils and this year, Year Eight pupils have been rewarded for a range of abilities.

The school prides itself on being a feeder school to a wide range of top senior schools and this year, its leaving pupils have proved themselves to be a talented group of young people. Destinations for scholars include Bromsgrove School and King’s School in Worcester.

Former pupils have often gone on to excel in their chosen areas and leavers who have recently gone to University include Emma Westley who is studying music at the Royal College of Music and James Mayhew who is studying at the Guildhall School of Music. Meanwhile, Joelle Gready, who was head girl at the school in 2004, is returning to Winterfold as a teacher.

Bill Ibbeston-Price, head teacher at the school, said: “This year alone, 31 scholarships have been earned by Winterfold pupils, which is testament to both their hard work and the quality of teaching at Winterfold.

“We are delighted to establish the foundation for these children to go onto achieve further success at their senior schools.”
