A GROUP of friends from Kidderminster completed a 10k charity mud run and raised more than £1,500 for a supporter group of the Brain Tumour Charity.

Jodi Millership rallied her friends to join her in the mud run in Derbyshire on Saturday, April 18,  to raise money for the Kate Fenney Memorial Fund, set up in her mother’s memory, who died last year after a two year battle with a brain tumour.

Jodi, along with her husband Stu, and friends Mike Norman, Jenny Benbow-Taylor, Gaz Duckhouse, Liz Aly, Liz Sakalas and Laura Nevin, took part in the Xrunner Wild Mud Run, under the team name ‘Running Wild for Kate’.

So far they have raised £1,650 for the memorial fund.

Mrs Millership said: “The mud run seemed like an incredibly difficult but hopefully fun adventure. If I am asking people to sponsor me, I wanted to do something that deserved it and involved training – which this certainly did.

“I wanted to do something to mark the first anniversary of my mother’s death, to turn it into a positive occasion and raise money to help fund research to save others. I thought it would be a personal challenge but I was amazed and touched when so many of my friends wanted to join me.

“Their efforts and fundraising means so much to me. It is wonderful to be surrounded by so much love and support, both now and through a few difficult recent years.

“Having a team on the day was brilliant for morale and meant laughter throughout the tough times which was just exactly my mother’s attitude. I am so proud to have raised such a significant amount for such a great cause and in memory of such a wonderful person.”
