CHILDREN at a Kidderminster nursery have been inspired by story book character Miffy to raise money for special care baby charity, Bliss this month.

To celebrate Miffy reaching a milestone 60th birthday this year, the children’s bunny character has been working with the Co-operative Childcare nurseries like Kidderminster, to help raise funds for charity.

The nursery, in Coventry Street, saw children make Miffy style ears, while parents and colleagues put their best baking skills into practice with a cake sale to help boost fundraising efforts.

The event proved to be a real success, with children and colleagues raising much needed funds for Bliss – the UK’s national charity for premature and sick babies. The activities form part of the Co-operative Childcare’s commitment to supporting the communities in which trades through fundraising work.

The Kidderminster nursery is now also in the running to receive a visit from the famous bunny herself, if they are named the top fundraiser.

Jemma Matthews, manager at the Kidderminster nursery, said: “Everyone at the nursery had a great time at our Miffy Extravaganza. The children were really excited about our party and particularly enjoyed reading stories, and using her as their inspiration for fundraising activities.

“Bliss is a fantastic charity and the support that they offer can have a direct impact on our children, their families and the wider community and so it is a cause that is close to our hearts and one we are proud to support.”
