PEOPLE who are passionate about adult social care or want to know more about helping people live independently are urged to attend an event in Brierley Hill.

The People’s Network will give borough residents the chance to learn more about technology that is helping people to maintain their independence and will also look at ways services can be improved further.

There will also be an opportunity to learn more about Dudley’s Community Information Point Network and meet people from the Safe Places scheme, which supports people with learning disabilities.

In addition people will be able to have a go at using the online Dudley Community Information Directory and help to test a new website with useful advice and products to make daily living easier.

They will also learn about the Living Well Feeling Safe Partnership and the preventative services they offer.

The event, jointly hosted by Healthwatch Dudley and Dudley Council, will take place on May 13 at Brierley Hill Methodist Church.

Matt Bowsher, chief officer for adult social care said: “The People’s Network is a brand new way in which the people of Dudley are setting their own agenda and telling us what we should focus on in adult social care.

"These events will happen every two months in partnership with Healthwatch Dudley.

“We hope that the network will become a new place for people to share their stories and meet new people. It will provide an opportunity for people to network with other people with similar interests in adult social care as well as have discussions, share knowledge about local services and influence adult social care in Dudley. Whether you access or provide a service or care for someone who does, everyone is welcome and can make a difference.”

People can book their free place by registering via Healthwatch Dudley or by calling them on 03000 111 001, or email hello@healthwatchdudley.co.uk for more information.
