REDDITCH First Responders have been shortlisted to win £10,000 to replace out of date defibrillators.

Townsfolk are being urged to assist the team by voting for them online between May 1 and May 30.

Each of the teams volunteers carry defibrillators which are used to restart the heart in the case of cardiac arrest.

The average cost of each unit is more than £1000.

Dave Tew, Redditch first responders co-ordinator, said: “We are sure you can appreciate how precious this money would be to us.

“We are head to head with other charities so every vote really will count.

“It is a crucial piece of equipment that goes everywhere that we go and is used for both adults and children to quite simply save their life.”
