A CHARFORD couple have been celebrating 60 years of marriage.
John Stephen Lewis met Sylvia Mary at Harris Brushworks where they both worked and the pair were married in 1955, at Wychbold Church, St Mary De Wych.
After John left Harris Brush, he ran a market stall in Bromsgrove. He later worked at Christian Salvestons in Droitwich, then at Electro Tecknics at Stoke Works before retiring.
The pair lived for the majority of their life at Hanbury Road, before moving to Gilbert Road.
The couple have three daughters, four grandsons and two granddaughters.
John and Sylvia enjoyed family holidays to Devon every year, but also had extra special holidays to Portugal and Bulgaria when their three daughters, their partners and grandchildren attended.
The pair were unable to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary as both were ill, but recently they were able to hold a family party which was also combined with a celebration for Sylvia's 80th birthday.
At the party they received a special two tier cake to mark the anniversary and birthday.
