STOURPORT Sports Centre's swimming pool will re-open this evening, after being closed for two days following an electrical fault.

A message on Places for People Leisure's website, who run Stourport Sports Centre, apologises to customers and states the technical issue "has now been resolved and the pool will re-open to the public at 6pm today".

A spokesman for the company said: "Our external power lines on the road outside the centre went down yesterday, which caused an electrical fault to the centre.

"This caused our circulation pumps not to work and it affected the heating of the pool.

"We had engineers out this morning and we are pleased to say the pool is back working now.

"We will be back open this evening."

It was reported there had been a problem to the electrical supply at the centre which had resulted in the pool having to be closed while the systems were reset.

Wyre Forest District Council were told the pool should be back open later this evening.
