PEOPLE in Alcester and the surrounding district are being invited to attend the Warwickshire Poppy Ball.

A table for 10 people costs £700 and includes a welcome drink, a four course meal with half a bottle of wine per person, plus a full night of entertainment.

Committee member Grace Skelton said: “We have been delighted by the enthusiasm that businesses across Warwickshire have shown in supporting this excellent cause again this year.

“We have already had some fantastic donations and generous sponsorship and we have increased the number of tables available this year as demand last year was so strong.”

She added that support for this year’s event is already very strong with a number of tables having already been reserved.

The event is being held at the Holiday Inn in Stratford Upon Avon on Saturday, November 14 and during the evening there will be two acts performing, Mode Showband and the Coventry Corp of Drums.

The event will also have an auction and people who can offer any prizes should contact the organisers.

All proceeds will be donated to the Royal British Legion.

Last year’s event raised more than £10,000 for The Royal British Legion.

The Alcester branch of the Royal British Legion has been active for more than 90 years making it the longest-running in Warwickshire.

The town's branch will be holding a coffee morning to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Victory in Japan and the end of the Second World War at Malt Mill Lane Community Centre in Alcester between 10am and 1pm on Saturday, August 15.

A range of stalls and refreshments will be on offer.

The Royal British Legion is dedicated to helping the whole Armed Forces community through welfare, friendship and representation.
