NEIGHBOURS from a Halesowen street banded together for a summer fair which raised more than £700 for charities.
About 80 residents of Waxland Road attended the event hosted at the home of James and Julia Kershaw.
Next door neighbour Carol Harris said a committee had been set up to organise the fundraiser which included a tombola, bri-a-brac stall, net-a-duck, toy, book and food stalls with homemade cakes and quiches.
A highlight of the entertainment was a Waxland Road Has Talent competition which produced a variety of acts, including joint winners - a rendition of Let it Be and a trombone solo.
Mrs Harris said: “We are very community spirited and everyone enjoyed it – we met neighbours we were not aware we had from the other end of the road.”
The £765 raised will be split between the Georgina cancer ward at Russells Hall Hospital, Action Heart, Halas Homes, Woodgate Valley Park Farm, Halesowen Drop-in Centre and the women’s refuge.
