KEMP Hospice is pulling out all the stops to support Hospice Care Week which takes place next week.

The annual event, which runs from Monday, October 5, to Sunday, October 11, raises awareness of the work hospices around the country. This year, Kidderminster’s Kemp Hospice is being supported by the local community.

Midcounties Co-operative stores in Kidderminster, Bewdley and Stourport will be supporting the event with collections at till points throughout the week. Kemp is currently the stores’ charity of the year and colleagues across Wyre Forest are rallying together to raise funds for the work of the hospice.

Kemp is also teaming up with local schools with a fundraising challenged called ‘Lock Up Your Head Teacher’.

Kay Butler, head teacher at Birchen Coppice Primary School, said: “I am getting involved in this challenge as Kemp provide invaluable support for our children and families in time of need.

“The charity supports us with work around bereavement, loss and illness and helps our families to come to terms with specific changes in their lives.”

Cathy Sloan, head of fundraising at Kemp, added: “I never cease to be amazed by the generosity of people in Wyre Forest and the support they show for their local hospice.

“Hospice Care Week is a great way to highlight the different their giving makes to the lives of the hundreds of people who use our services each year.”

Kemp Hospice provide vital services free of charge to local communities around Wyre Forest.
