CONSTRUCTION work is underway at Barratt Homes West Midlands’ latest Worcestershire development St Laurence Meadows in Alvechurch, which will contribute nearly £200,000 to local community projects.

The funding, totalling £192,915 has been provided as part of Barratt Homes’ planning agreements for the new site, on Birmingham Road, with Bromsgrove District Council.

Barratt Homes has contributed £37,850 towards education provision in the area which will be spent at Crown Meadow First School and Alvechurch Middle School. £72,912 has been provided to support the upkeep of the public park at Wiggin Memorial Playing Fields. A further £82,153 has been provided towards improving Alvechurch Railway Station to include a walkway and cycle path as well as car parking provision.

St Laurence Meadows will provide 28 new homes in the area. 17 will be available for private sale with 11 affordable homes on offer to rent or buy through shared ownership.

Construction work started in July and the sales office opened in October. The first homes are expected to be completed by March 2016.

Sales Advisers Julie Francis and Liz Gow and Assistant Site Manager Adam Jones will be the first to meet visitors at the new Sales Centre.

Julie, who has worked for Barratt Homes for eight years, said she is already enjoying welcoming people to the new development.

She said: “St Laurence Meadows has received a lot of interest so far and it’s not difficult to see why. We have a range of spacious family homes for sale and the development is in a prime location, near to Junction 2 on the M42 and is only 15 minutes walk from the train station, plus there are some excellent schools in the area.”
