A KNITTING lover will celebrate her 100th birthday today surrounded by her friends and family.

Olive Pratt, who lives in Rock, will celebrate her 100th birthday on Thursday (May 5) with her family and friends, and received a special telegram from the Queen.

Olive was born to a large family, originally from Lancashire, and moved to Crewe when she was young, before later deciding she wanted to move to Whitehouse Farm, in Ismere.

There she met and married local farmer, Sam Pratt, and they enjoyed a long and happy life together. The couple had no children.

Approaching their retirement, they decided they wanted to spend their retirement days somewhere quiet, so they decided to move to Rock.

She will spend today (Thursday) with her family and friends, remembering her husband and all the happy memories they made.

Her brother, Arthur Noden - who is orignally from Oldington and now lives in Scotland - also celebrated the landmark birthday last year, and recently turned 101 on April 17.
