LAST weekend saw the official opening of the new Wythall Library at its brand new home in the community hub at Woodrush High School.
The old library on May Lane closed its doors for the final time on Saturday, April 30, and people were keen to see inside the new facilities.
Library customer advisor, Joanna Cox, said: “It went really well. We had over 500 visitors, and lots of positive comments. The figures are still up every day.”
The library replaces the old building on May Lane which had been open for more than 40 years, and houses the same facilities, with free internet access, children's activities; adult learning courses; and other regular activities all still taking place, but it also shares its space with Woodrush High School's library, and a community hub, which includes a meeting space, a cafe, gym and dance studio.
Joanna added: “There was just the library before, and now there’s a gym and café, so people can go and have a coffee and come back up.”
