CONSTRUCTION has gotten underway at a new housing development being built off Groveley Lane in Cofton Hackett, which will form part of an extensive Longbridge redevelopment.

The new development, called Cofton Grange, will feature 41 three, four and five bedroom properties, with the first of them planned to be ready to sell this summer.

The site lies alongside Arrow Park, and developers St Modwen Homes are building the site alongside a neighbouring development from Persimmon at Cofton Fields, as part of a huge long term regeneration of the Longbridge area.

Dave Smith, managing director at St. Modwen Homes, said: “When designing Cofton Grange, we wanted to make sure that it felt very green, with the properties surrounded by parks; providing a truly relaxing place for people to call home.

“Cofton Hackett is a hugely desirable place to live, being just five minutes from the beautiful Lickey Hills Country Park and just a short walk from the many new restaurants and shops – including the largest M&S in the region – that Longbridge town centre has to offer.”

Since 2003 the developer has already invested £300 million in regeneration work on the former MG Rover site at Longbridge, building 400 houses as well as shops, offices, the new Bournville College campus, Longbridge Technology Park and Austin Park.
