POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was bitten twice by a dog in Redditch.

The man, who was in his 50s, was walking down an alleyway leading to Kimberley Close at about noon on Sunday, July 17, when he passed two men and two women stood talking with a dog.

The dog - which was on a lead - then jumped up and bit the man in the chest and on the thigh. He required hospital treatment.

The dog is described as the same size as a Boxer dog, with a thick brown coat similar to that of a Husky and a black and brown face.

The dog's owner is described as around 5 foot 9 tall with grey hair. He is believed to be in his late fifties and was described as wearing a blue jumper and blue jeans.

Officers would like to speak to the owner of the dog and to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, to assist with enquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 0363S of June 17.
