HEALTH bosses are reminding patients in Worcestershire that rude, aggressive or violent behaviour will not be tolerated in GP practices.

NHS Redditch and Bromsgrove Clinical Commissioning Group have received a rise in reports of patients verbally abusing GPs and other practice staff.

Since April 2015 there have been 55 concerns raised by practices across the county and 29 patients are currently receiving healthcare away from their usual practice as a result, under the Violent Patient Scheme.

Dr Richard Davies, interim chair and clinical lead for NHS Redditch and Bromsgrove CCG, said: "Although the vast majority of patients treat NHS workers and other patients with respect there are more and more instances of patients verbally abusing members of staff.

“Every health professional working across Worcestershire is committed to offering the best possible service to patients, however if a patient feels they need to raise their concerns they should go through the provider’s proper complaints process.”
