WYRE Forest firefighters were kept busy this bank holiday Monday after responding to a number of fires across the district.

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew from Bewdley were alerted to and attended a field fire in Wassell Grove Lane at about 5.41pm.

The crew were able to extinguish the flames using specialist equipment and beaters.

About half an hour later, at 6.16pm, a crew from Kidderminster Fire Station responded to reports of an automated fire alarm in Woodfield Street.

On arrival at the blaze, they found a bin was alight, but they were able to put out the fire using one hose reel jet.
