LITTLE Suckers are being invited to a breastfeeding support group which has recently launched in Stourbridge.

Dudley Council’s Sarah Norman will be dropping into the successful ‘Little Suckers’ group on Wednesday (October 26) to find out more and promote the service.

Based at Stourbridge Children’s Centre, mothers and volunteer buddies will be talking to the council’s chief executive between noon and 2pm about the support they receive and share to extend breastfeeding.

Little Suckers is the largest breastfeeding support group in the borough and it has been running for several years, supported by volunteer and paid sessional worker buddies.

It is now being run by a newly appointed volunteer buddy coordinator and volunteer buddies.

Ms Norman said: “Breastfeeding gives babies a great start in life and offers health benefits to both mother and child. I know from personal experience how tough it can be in the early days and the right support to carry on can make all the difference.

“The breastfeeding buddies do a fantastic job of supporting fellow mums, especially at the beginning of parenthood. The support they provide is invaluable. I’m really looking forward to meeting the buddy mentors and the mums who use the service when I visit next week.”
