HUNDREDS of Santas went on the rampage through Kidderminster streets – all in aid of the town’s hospice.

Kind runners braved the cold to take part in the annual 10k Santa Run organised by Kemp Hospice yesterday (Sunday, December 4).

The event saw dozens of people in their Father Christmas suits dash from Brinton Park, along the canal to Wolverley before returning back to the park.

The aim of the event, which was sponsored by Western Power Distribution, was to raise thousands for the hospice.

First runner back was Kemp supporter Keith Kane who, after coming second in last year’s run came first and crossed over the finish line at just over 39 minutes. The first lady back was Rebecca Davies.

Others taking part included long-term supporters of the Santa fun run, Darlaston Boxing Club.

Shelley Stanley, Event Fundraiser at Kemp, said: “It was a very cold morning, however the sun shone and everyone had a brilliant time on Sunday.

“We are hoping to raise £10,000 from this event which will directly go towards providing a range of free services to the Wyre Forest community.

“A big thank you goes to everyone who ran for us, all of our dedicated volunteers and 24/7 Fitness for the warm up.’

Stella Hayward from WPD said: “We are delighted to sponsor the Santa Fun Run this year.

“We have been keen supporters of the charity for several years as we recognise that events like these help to raise vital funds for the charity in a really fun way.

“Kemp Hospice is a fantastic charity and I would encourage other local people and businesses to show their support as well.”
