CREATIVE pupils at St John's Middle School in Bromsgrove have created a new cultural zone in their school's library, after writing to dozens of foreign embassies in London to ask for educational resources.

The letters asked embassy officials for any donations that might help to teach students about the country they represent.

St John's has since been overwhelmed by the responses, having received books, artifacts and DVDs from more than 25 embassies.

Countries as far apart as Mexico, Malaysia, Canada and China responded to the pupil's plea, with resources showcasing the uniqueness of their cultures.

Students even received an invite from Egyptian embassy to go and visit its consulate general in London.

Rachel Bourne, head of year eight at St John's Middle School, said: "The resources received will be put on display in the school library and used in lessons to help further pupils understanding of the world around them."
