MUSICIANS and poets are coming out in force against racism and xenophobia at an event in Stourbridge this week.

Bridges Not Walls, a nationwide event to coincide with the inauguration of Donald Trump, will take place at Katie Fitzgerald’s in Wollaston on Friday (January 20).

Hosted by landlord and musician Eddy Morton, the evening of music and poetry will feature a number of artists including Ian Marrey, Jess Silk, Kyle Parsons, Stephen Clarke and Pat Breslin.

Eddy, whose Artists for Syria campaign recently raised more than £2,000 for charity, said: “The concept is to show solidarity in the face of racism, xenophobia and disunity.

“As with our Artists for Syria campaign, we would like to make a stand and say clearly ‘not in our name’.

“Even though the national event does not have any fundraising focus, we will also be raising funds for War Child, a small charity that protects children living in the world's most dangerous war zones.

“Hopefully we can make our position clear and do a little good in the process.”
