DEFENDER Dan Scarr has completed a move from Stourbridge to Championship side Birmingham City.

The centre back, who was noticed after a host of fine performances during Stour's historic FA Cup run this season, moves to St Andrew's on a two-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee following a successful trial. The deal also includes another year option in the club's favour.

He will intially be under the guidance of senior professional development coach Richard Beale, but Beale has high hopes that the player has all the attributes to play at first team level if he continues to make progress.

Glassboys manager Gary Hackett said: “We are all thrilled for Dan. He’s a great lad and he deserves this chance. I said to him at the start of the season that if he got his head down and worked hard he could be playing in the Football League, and not just at the lower levels.

“I honestly think he’s got huge potential and I think he can go on to great things.

“He’s improved hugely over the last 18 months or so. He’s been so consistent in his performances, never panics on the ball, and he’s been a very important part of some great times for us, especially this season. I can’t speak highly enough of him.”

The 22-year-old joined Stourbridge from Redditch United in the summer of 2015, making his debut against his former club in a pre-season Worcestershire Senior Cup tie at the Valley.

He made a total of 84 appearances for the Glassboys and scored 11 goals, including the winner against Kidderminster Harriers in the FA Trophy last season, and three in this season’s history-making Emirates FA Cup campaign.
