A QUARRY Bank woman died after falling from the bonnet of a car being driven outside a Dudley supermarket, an inquest heard.

Eleanor Jane Underhill suffered a head injury following the incident, which happened on Boxing Day last year, just after 10.30pm on the Tesco Extra car park in Birmingham Road.

Monday's inquest, held at the Black Country Coroners Court in Oldbury, heard that Eleanor was taken to Russells Hall Hospital by friends, who told hospital staff she had "fallen over".

The 20-year-old, of Shearwater Drive, was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where she died from her injuries on January 3.

Following her death, three people were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Two men, aged 18 and 19 and an 18-year-old woman, all from Stourbridge, have been bailed until March, while enquiries continue.

In light of the ongoing police investigation, senior coroner Zafar Siddique adjourned the inquest until March 29.
