WAITROSE has confirmed it received 200 job applications for its new £3.5 million store in Bromsgrove within 24 hours of first advertising the roles.

Bosses says the figure is one of the highest response rates they have ever had in one day, as they look to fill the 50 jobs available ahead of its opening in late Spring.

Waitrose resourcing consultant Sarah Duncan said: “The level of interest has been a phenomenal, it’s one of the highest response rates we’ve ever had within one day.

“The calibre of applicants has been outstanding and we are looking forward to welcoming candidates for interviews.”

Jobs available include customer service, hospitality and supermarket assistant positions, which were advertised on jlpjobs.com from Friday, February 17.

The 6,000sq ft convenience store, which is being built on the old Market Hall site on Hanover Street, will include a hospitality area for people to enjoy their food and drink.

John Lewis ‘click and collect’, dry cleaning, Waitrose QuickCheck and its food ordering service, along with Waitrose Entertaining will also be available at the site.
