A BROMSGROVE teen, and self-confessed adrenalin junkie, will be jumping out of a plane to raise awareness of the disease that stole her friend's life.

South Bromsgrove High School student Georgia Barrett, 16, will be taking the 13,000 foot dive in memory of family friend Charlotte Gilliver, who sadly passed away from cystic fibrosis five years ago, aged just 26.

Georgia described Charlotte as a 'lovely, bubbly girl' whose smile brightened up the room.

She said: "I’m doing it to raise awareness and in Charli's memory. It was really difficult when she died. We asked Charli's family if they would mind me doing it in her memory because obviously I'm not family, and they were just over the moon. They were so grateful. They've already donated so much money to help."

Georgia is set to tackle the skydive in Brackley on March 25 and hopes to raise £1,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

"I’m a bit of an adrenalin junkie and I’d always wanted to do that or a bungee jump," she said. "But my mom sort of said a sky dive was a bit more safe. Because this was such a big thing to me, I thought it would be good to raise money for cystic fibrosis at the same time."

Friends and family have already donated more than £200 towards Georgia's goal.

Her mum Clare Barrett, 40, of Aston Fields, said: "Ever since Charlotte died Georgia has wanted to do something to raise money, and in true George style she can't do anything simple so now she's jumping out of a plane. She enquired about it two years ago but they said she had to be 16, and she turned 16 in January so applied straight away. We're all going to be watching with eyes closed but she can't wait."
