ADVENTUROUS Redditch schoolchildren can step into another dimension this half term and explore the world of virtual reality.

Tomorrow (Friday, February 2) Google Expeditions Pioneer Programme visits at Kingfisher Shopping Centre and children will be able to take virtual field trips using the latest virtual reality technology.

This could include exploring the depths of the coral reefs and going beyond the horizons of Mars, all in one afternoon.

With more than 400 expeditions to choose from including historical cities, outer space and inside the human body, the virtual reality headsets are based on content from the school curriculum to make the immersive experience educational as well as fun.

Fiona Faizey, deputy general manager at Kingfisher Shopping Centre, said "This is such an exciting opportunity for children to have a truly immersive experience with the most up to date technology.

"The ability to reach such heights and explore places they would never get to see, all from the comfort of Kingfisher Shopping Centre is just amazing - it’s an event not to be missed."

The event will be taking place at Kingfisher on Thursday, February 23 between 9am and 5pm.
