CRICKETERS will be swapping their bats for brushes when they take part in a scheme to spruce up Kidderminster Cricket Club’s ground ready for the new season.

KCC is taking part in the annual ECB NatWest CricketForce, which aims to get communities to take pride in their local cricket clubs.

Volunteers of all ages, from junior members to 1st XI players, parents, officials and vice presidents will be helping out on Saturday and Sunday (April 1 and 2) between 9am and 4.30pm.

CricketForce co-ordinator Junior Section chairman Sarah Beadsworth said: “It’s a fun social occasion and the first chance we have to all get together pre-season. Jobs that need doing include painting sightscreens and the pavilion steps.

“It would be great to see supporters from the wider community also volunteering to help get us ready.”

KCC’s season will kick off on Saturday April 15, when the first XI will be at home to the Warwickshire Academy in the Williamson Trophy.
