A 12-YEAR-OLD girl from Bromsgrove has headed a fundraising campaign at her school to help children affected by bullying.
Olivia Turbutt came up with idea of using 10 pence coins, donated by pupils, to recreate the St John's Middle School emblem on the Watt Close playground, before donating the money to children's charity Place2Be for its Be Kind campaign.
The year eight pupil said: "'I feel that all teenagers have access to social media and don't realise that the words they use can hurt people - they think it's just banter. It seems they think it's cool to be unkind when actually it's not."
Olivia planned and delivered an assembly by herself and encouraged her fellow students to donate.
A spokesman for St John's Middle School said: "We are so proud of her for her efforts and her assembly had a real impact on the pupils."
Students raised £215 on Friday, March 17, all of which will go towards providing emotional and therapeutic support to victims of bullying in primary and secondary schools across the country.
