BROMSGROVE water babies will help save the lives of others by swimming a width in fancy dress, as part of a Splashathon event to help raise £1 million for charity.

Youngsters aged between 12 weeks and four who are members of the Water Babies school will don their best pirate and princess outfits to raise funds for baby charity Tommy’s.

The charity has already raised £816,477 and hopes to break the £1 million mark to fund further research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth.

Katherine Morgan, who will be hosting events across the region and who has been involved with Water Babies for five years, said: “We are extremely proud to be supporting Tommy’s again in this year’s Splashathon.

“The challenge for every child participant to ‘swim a width’ will hopefully focus those involved to seek out sponsorship for an amazing charity who offer hope to so many remarkable people in such difficult times of their lives.”

The event in Bromsgrove takes place at Chadsgrove School on Meadow Road, Catshill, on Tuesday, July 4, between 4pm and 5.30pm.

Events are being held nationwide throughout June and July, and have been officially launched this week by former Saturday’s singer, and mum of 2, Una Healy.
