A TEA party held by a Stourbridge mum is set to help the charity that supports her and other women with a rare, incurable lung disease.

Leanne Lillywhite-Sutton, 34, held an event at her Wollaston home in aid of LAM Action, which helps women with Lymphangioleiomyomatosis – a condition better known as LAM – which destroys lung tissue and leads to severe breathing problems.

Diagnosed with LAM in 2013 after suffering a double lung collapsed, Leanne was helped to organise the event by her neighbours Sue Toner and Alison Jeremy, raising more than £600 for the charity.

The party included a barbecue and bouncy castle, while a variety of homemade cakes, tea, coffee and soft drinks, hand treatments by Neals Yard, candles by Partylite, and toys were available.

Leanne, who is married to James and has a two-year-old daughter, Isemay, said: “I’m really grateful to everybody who attended and supported.

“We all enjoyed a lovely day for an excellent cause and we raised a good amount of money which will go towards funding research into finding a cure for LAM.”

Around 250 women in the UK are believed to have the condition, and although the cause of LAM is still unknown, it is believed there could be a hormonal connection as it almost exclusively affects women of childbearing age.
