RETURNING favourites and new performers will be taking to the streets of Bromsgrove this week for the district's annual Street Theatre.

Bromsgrove District Council will be hosting its annual programme of events on selected dates between July 26 and August 10, with performances taking place at the Recreation Ground, Wythall Park, Catshill Meadow, Romsley playing fields and Rubery St Chad's Park.

Today's theatre (July 26) has been moved from the Recreation Ground to the high street as a result of the rain and is set to start at 1pm.

Shows will feature Bruce Airhead and his 6ft balloon, Angie Mack's hula-hoop skills, dry land synchronised swimming and comedy from the Bread and Butter Theatre Company, and Jason Maverick's circus, mime and robotics.

New for this year are Bell and Bullock's 'Maritime Mayhem', the Maniax stunt show and tricks from the Bubble Wizard.

Val Wilson, arts and events officer for Bromsgrove District Council, said: “Our Street Theatre events get more and more elaborate each year and are guaranteed to be a fun day out.

"This year’s will wow the crowds with daredevil tricks, magic and plenty of comedy. So while the kids are on their holidays, keep them entertained and pop down to one of these fab events."
