FAMILY and friends of a much-loved Kidderminster chef helped score thousands of pounds for a good cause during a charity football tournament.

The fourth annual football tournament, held in memory of Jordan Guise, was held at Wolverley Playing Fields, in Mill Lane, on Saturday (July 22).

The tournament saw 24 teams battle in five-a-side matches - which was won by ‘Xavi FC’ - and raised £2,257.40 for charity SADS UK (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome).

Jordan tragically died after inhaling nitrous oxide – or ‘laughing gas’ - in 2014, aged just 21, while he was working as a chef in France.

The annual event is organised by Jordan’s mother, Leesa Davies, and many of his family and friends. The charity SADS was chosen in honour of Jordan’s schoolfriend, Dean Wilkinson, who died in 2015.

Mrs Davies said: “This year’s football tournament went really well - we had a really great turn out.

“We raised £2,257.40 for the SADS charity, which was chosen in honour of Dean Wilkinson. We organise the football tournament every year in memory of Jordan, but we chose this year’s charity in honour of his schoolfriend Dean, who passed away in 2015.

“This is the fourth year we have run the tournament and we are definitely looking to organise it again for next year. I want to thank everyone who donated raffle prizes which also helped raise funds, and Concept Furniture for providing the furniture for the day.”

Anne Jolly MBE, founder of SADS UK, added: “SADS UK are very grateful to Leesa Davies, Annette Wilkinson and everyone who supported the charity football match recently held in memory of Jordan Guise and Dean Wilkinson."

"The funds raised will greatly assist the charity in its aim to save young lives."
