A COUNTRY park in the Bromsgrove district has been awarded an international award reserved for the country's most beautiful green spaces.

Waseley Hills Country Park in Rubery was one of three sites in Worcestershire to receive the Green Flag Award, among a record-breaking 1,797 winners across the UK.

The prestigious award, now in its 3rd decade, recognises green parks parks and green spaces for their beauty, environmental standards and visitor facilities.

Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for communities Lucy Hodgson said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for another year.

“We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining these green spaces to such a high standard."

Paul Todd, international Green Flag Award Scheme manager, added: "Each flag is a celebration of the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.

"The success of the scheme, especially in these challenging times, demonstrates just how much parks matter to people.”
