CO-OP is recruiting in Bromsgrove for a new scheme launched nationwide to bring communities together.

According to the supermarket giant, the district will be at the forefront of the Member Pioneers programme, with staff in the new paid position building relationships with local community groups, charities and store members.

Those recruited to the role will arrange meetings and events to get community members talking about matters most important to them.

Rufus Olins, group director of community and campaigns at Co-op, said: "This pioneering new scheme allows the business to deliver on its purpose of championing a better way of doing business for you and your community – simply put it connects our members and businesses with people in the local community.

“We recognise how important it is to support our communities practically – encouraging people to come together and developing deeper relationships with our colleagues, members and local cause is what co-operation is about. The member pioneers in Bromsgrove will bring this to life in the communities where they live.”

The pioneers will also work to connect with local good causes who receive funding from the Co-op's membership scheme and seek out new charities.

By the end of 2017, the supermarket is aiming to hire 200 member pioneers across the country.
