BAKERS at a Bromsgrove marketing firm had tongues wagging during an annual ‘bake off’ which raised more than £150 for Birmingham Dogs Home.
Staff at Gough Bailey Wright brought in entries including Pound Cake, Marble Cake, Baklava, a Banana Loaf, and cupcakes, which were blind judged by owners Sue Bailey and Michelle Wright.
The winner was a stunning triple-layered buttercream, cookie and chocolate fudge sponge cake from web developer Jax Cichocki, decorated with paw prints and a dog crafted out of icing.
Managing director Sue Bailey said: “The Great Gough Bailey Wright Bake Off is an annual highlight and always a pleasure to judge.
“The team always seem to outdo themselves and this year was no different.
“Michelle and I were blown away by the standard of baking and we’re happy to say no one was left with their tail between their legs!”
With extra points awarded for canine-themed cakes, a dog bowl chocolate sponge from account director Richard Harris took second place, whilst PR account manager Sara Gillespie came third with a batch of delicious sausage rolls.
Prizes included a golden crown, Mary Berry cookery book, and homemade jams.
Ms Bailey added: “Birmingham Dogs Home does fantastic work in rescuing and rehoming abandoned dogs and with us having our very own office pooch, Nellie, we felt it was the perfect fit!”
