AMERICAN diner Shake Dog in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre has closed.

The restaurant only opened its doors in March, replacing Ed's Easy Diner which went into administration a year earlier.

Shake Dog is part of an Irish chain which also has branches in Woking and Blackburn.

Ed's Easy Diner closed in October with a number of staff told they no longer had jobs.

The chain was sold after collapsing into administration with a number of diners closing immediately.

It was sold to Giraffe Concepts Limited, part of Boparan Restaurant Holdings.

Ken Williams, general manager at Kingfisher, confirmed that Shake Dog has ceased trading.

"It is natural to see retailers come and go as the shopping centre evolves and we are currently in discussions with the owners of Shake Dog about the future of this space."

Shake Dog attempted to emulate Ed's, offering American classics including burgers, hot dogs, fries, milkshakes and sodas.
