POLICE in Alcester are appealing for information after reports a man was going door to door trying to sell a tea towel and a pair of scissors for £35.

A man was spotted going door to door trying to sell items at high prices from a large holdall.

The man showed ID that said he was from an organisation called 'Helping Hands' (which has nothing to do with the Care Services based in Alcester).

He tried to sell a tea towel and a pair of scissors for £35.

Police have described him as white, mid 20s, short black hair, northern accent, and wearing a blue jacket.

It happened around 2.50pm on Butter Street in Alcester on January 9.

Anyone with any information is being asked to call police on 101.
