A REDDITCH woman is preparing to run the London Marathon after being inspired by her daughter.
Carina Maunder, a 36-year-old teaching assistant, will tackle the 26-mile challenge to raise money for Sense, a charity that helps people with complex communication needs.
Her eldest daughter Paige, aged nine, has suffered from cataract and glue ear and will act as her motivation during the gruelling run.
Carina said: “Although Paige is not deaf or completely visually impaired, we spent a lot of time during hospital appointments where Paige’s eye would be patched up.
"I could not imagine what it would be like to be deaf or blind and wanted to do my bit to help by running the London Marathon to raise money for Sense.”
Carina also ran the 2016 London Marathon for Sense and this time is hoping to finish the race in four hours and 45 minutes.
As part of her fundraising efforts she held a body combat session at her local gym and a quiz night with a raffle. A high tea party for her local cycling and running community is planned for this month.
