PATIENTS and visitors at Bromsgrove's Princess of Wales Community Hospital can now access free wifi during their stays.

The hospital was connected to wireless internet this week, after feedback from patients and their families revealed a demand for online access on the wards and New Haven Unit.

Robert Mackie, director of finance at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, which runs the facility, said: "As a trust we’re committed to improving patient experience.

"We believe that in coming years we will need to embrace the full potential that digital technology provides, in order to meet the needs of our patients and improve their experience while in our care.

"This is a great step towards that vision.”

The trust's wifi roll-out is part of broader plans to improve patient experience, after it was one of just six trusts to be named a Global Digital Exemplar last year.

Community hospitals at Malvern, Tenbury, Pershore and Evesham will be connected in coming weeks, alongside trust-run mental health recovery units in Worcester and Redditch.
