A BEWDLEY chess club are putting pieces in place for their annual charity chess tournament by hosting a promotional day of games for enthusiasts.

St Anne’s Chess Club are hosting a series of chess activities outside Bewdley Museum on Saturday July 14 from 10am to 2pm, where they will also be handing out flyers about chess clubs in the area.

Visitors can put their skills to the test and take part in speed chess games on the day and find out more about this year’s main tournament which will take place on Sunday August 12.

The club want make Bewdley a more chess friendly town, and emulate the chess playing culture of European and American towns.

The club will be supporting the Rory the Robot Prostate Cancer Appeal - Worcestershire, one of Bewdley Mayor Roger Coleman’s charities for the year.
