A HOST of summer sports sessions are taking place across the borough during the school holidays.

At Crystal Leisure Centre in Stourbridge, youngsters can jump for joy with trampolining sessions for the next three Tuesdays (July 24, July 31 and August 7).

A class for under-5s runs from 9-10am and costs £5.10 per session. Parents must stay with their children during these sessions.

From 10-11am, there will be a beginners’ class for children aged 5-15 and from 11am-12noon there is a class for beginners and improvers in the same age group. Both classes cost £6.20 per session.

From 12 noon to 1pm and 1pm to 2pm there will be an advanced trampolining class for five to 15-year-olds. These classes also cost £6.20 per session.

Also at Crystal Leisure Centre, intensive five-day swimming courses will be running over the summer break for children aged four and over.

They run from July 23-27, August 6-10 and August 20-24 from 9.30am and 10.30am for beginners with armbands and swim belts, and 10am for improvers who must be able to swim up to 25m.

It costs £26.50 per course and pre-payment and enrolment is necessary.

Arts and crafts sessions run at Crystal on Tuesday, July 31 and Tuesday, August 14, where for £5 children aged 5-11 can make gifts to take home.

And on Thursday, July 26 and Thursday, August 30, the centre in Bell Street will be running an Inclusive Activezone for children with learning or physical disabilities and their siblings and friends.

Activities include trampolining, bouncy castle, dodgeball, volleyball, parachute games and multi-sports. The sessions for 5-8-year-olds run from 10am-12noon, and eight to 16-year-olds from 1-4pm.

The leisure pool is open throughout the holidays with a bondi beat water disco taking place every Friday from 3.30pm to 6pm. The 25m pool, soft play suite and crèche are also open.

At Dudley Leisure Centre, a Junior Activezone will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer break from 9am-4pm and is aimed at eight to 12-year-olds, with activities including craft sessions, football, rounders, basketball, badminton and swimming.

Parental consent forms must be completed prior to participation and it costs £20 per day, with a 50 per cent discount available with Options+ leisure discount card.

Participants will need to bring packed lunches, refreshments and a plastic drinks bottle. Pre-booking is recommended.

At Halesowen Leisure Centre, ‘Mission Impossible’ style inflatable aqua run pool sessions will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1.15-3pm for children aged eight and over.

Youngsters must be at least 1.2 metres tall and pass a swimming test before taking part.

Fun float pool sessions will also take place in the main pool and the learner pool at the centre from 1.15-3pm on Mondays and Fridays, with the exception of Monday, August 27.

Floats will be in the learner pool only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1.30pm to 3pm. Both sessions cost £4.30 for adults and £2.80 for under-16s.

Juniors at Halesowen Leisure Centre can also take advantage of the £7 for seven days offer to receive unlimited access from 9am-5pm every day.

Activities include use of the swimming pools, fun aqua run and float sessions, plus use of the squash courts and table tennis.

Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult, and height and swimming ability restrictions apply to the aqua run sessions.
