TRAVELLERS evicted from fields opposite Sainsbury’s at Amblecote have reportedly moved to another location - just half a mile away.
A group of travellers had been parked up on playing fields next to the Withymoor supermarket since last Wednesday (September 5) and authorities issued an eviction notice yesterday – ordering the group to leave the site or face a forced eviction today (Thursday).
Amblecote councillor Paul Bradley confirmed the group finally moved off the site off Turner’s Lane this afternoon but said they have now parked up on land by Oakfield Community Centre in Brettell Lane.
He said: “They are staying in the area because people keep employing them to stay.”
Meanwhile – the clean-up of the Withymoor site is expected to start in earnest tomorrow (Friday), with cllr Bradley adding: “I’ve been told it is not as bad as last year.”
