A KIDDERMINSTER centre is to celebrate the contributions of older people in the community during an event next month.

Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch & Wyre Forest (BRWF) is inviting people to join them at the Tulip Tree Centre in Castle Lane to mark Older People’s Day on Monday, October 1 from 10am to noon.

The charity is bringing together a number of local partners and organisations who will raise awareness of support and services that are available to older people.

These include the fire service, Act on Energy, Health Watch, Reaching Out Wyre Forest, Triangle Day Care, Brook Court care home, Reaching Out Wyre Forest and the Kidderminster and Wolverley & Cookley Dementia Action Alliance groups.

Sam Humphray, Interim CEO of Age UK BRWF said: “Older People's Day is something that is celebrated annually, across the world, on October 1 to recognise the contributions of older people to their communities and to help raise awareness of the issues that affect their lives.

“As an organisation we have recently initiated a programme of ‘Listening Events’ to help improve our engagement with the Wyre Forest community.

“We want to better understand the priorities of local people, to help better shape local support and services, so I would like to encourage people to come along and talk to us, so that we can help create communities in which we all want to grow older.”
